April 27th, 2008 About Silversalts

Silversalts Publishing is the brainchild of Nicholas Lake, a K-12 art educator, a painter, and a photographer with a fine arts background, and Christopher Lake, a writer, Web designer, and photographer. We are both passionate about the art of photography, especially the traditional wet-process methods we both grew up with. Our goal is to promote and preserve the fine-art tradition of black-and-white photography.

With Silversalts08 we are offering college students an opportunity to be published in an annual review of black-and-white photography from college programs across the country. We think it will be extremely interesting to compare the work from different regions, from urban settings like New York City, Los Angeles, and Chicago, to more rural colleges in cities like Casper, Wyoming, Emporia, Kansas, and Boone, North Carolina.
